Susheela Raman
Bio
Susheela Raman is a Tamil singer-songwriter and composer from London, active since 1997. She divides her time between India and the UK. She is known for her intense live performances and has released four albums. Salt Rain (2001) was shortlisted for the UK Mercury Prize, Love Trap (2003) featured many Indian devotional songs, Music for Crocodiles features collaborations with musicians from South India and 33 1/3 (2007) features re-interpretations of songs by The Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan and Joy Division. She was nominated for a BBC World Music Award in 2006 and is released her latest studio album Vel in 2011.
