About the Event
Norah Jones, one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful artists in the world, will perform live in India for the first time ever in March 2013. The nine-time Grammy winner will kick-off the three-city tour with a headlining performance at A Summer’s Day in Mumbai on March 03 followed by concerts in New Delhi on March 05 and 06, and Bangalore on March 08. A Summer’s Day, which also features some of the most exciting artists from India and around the world, is a new music festival produced by Only Much Louder, the company behind music festivals like the Bacardi NH7 Weekender and Eristoff Invasion.
Jones first emerged on the world stage 10 years ago with the 2002 release of Come Away With Me, her self-described "moody little record" that introduced a singular new voice and grew into a global phenomenon, sweeping the 2003 Grammy Awards and signaling a paradigm shift away from the prevailing synthetic pop music of the time. Since then, Jones has sold over 40 million albums worldwide, releasing a series of critically acclaimed and commercially successful solo albums— Feels Like Home (2004), Not Too Late (2007), The Fall (2009), and Little Broken Hearts (2012)—as well as two albums with her country collective The Little Willies. The 2010 compilation ...Featuring Norah Jones showcased her incredible versatility by collecting her collaborations with artists as diverse as Willie Nelson, Outkast, Herbie Hancock, and Foo Fighters.
On her first-ever tour of India, Norah Jones will be supported by Portland singer-songwriter and guitarist, M. Ward. Apart from being a touring musician, M. Ward is one half of indie pop duo She & Him with Zooey Deschanel, and a member of seminal indie folk supergroup Monsters Of Folk. Ward has released eight full-length albums in his career, and has toured with Norah Jones in the past as well. His latest release, 2012's A Wasteland Companion peaked at #21 on The Billboard 200 and #5 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums.
