The band’s set was hit by a few sound problems during which frontman Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy (shot in the video below from a particularly unflattering angle; lay off the pav bhaji for a bit, yo) invited a member of the audience who knew how to “rap” on stage. Krishnamoorthy then proceeded to drop a beatbox, um, beat as the enthusiastic volunteer dropped some Baba Sehgal. As the impromptu jam stretched longer than the usual embarrassing 13 seconds (industry average based on shy audience participators), the rest of the band joined in. The result is Indian rock kvlt YouTube gold.

The duo of Rudy Wallang and Tipriti Kharbhangar embark on their tour-ish in September hitting Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore and Pune and a bunch of other places.

While several of the domestic dates are part of this year’s Pubrockfest, the international dates in Jakarta come courtesy the Jakarta Blues Festival.

After much delay, RSJ has announced the Kingfisher Pubrockfest 2008 gig schedule. June promises much in the Mumbai leg of the fest with Them Clones, Great Society, Medusa and Split all scheduled to play. Overall though the list is a bit disappointing with mostly the same bands that’ve been doing the fest/event scene slated to play.

RSJ’s successful multi-city gig venture, Kingfisher Pubrockfest, has been pushed back a few days than its previous scheduled start. In an email sent by the magazine the date confusion was clarified.

Please Note: The Kingfisher Pubrockfest will start from 10th May from Pune
The event scheduled on 1st May in Delhi will not be happening. The Delhi leg of Kingfisher Pubrockfest will start from 15th May 2008.

This year Pubrockfest heads to 20 cities with 60 gigs across the country. Last year I attended a particularly killer Superfuzz gig at Razz as part of the festival. Looking forward to more of the same. Read more about Pubrockfest and cities where the gigs will be held after the break.

The Pubrockfest website hasn’t been updated with any details, and still shows last year’s stuff. As with most RSJ info mailers, this too was sent twice. Till now.

The concept of Pubrockfest was initiated by Rock Street Journal in 2005, when a humble beginning was made with a 4 gig festival featuring 12 bands in Delhi. It marked the beginnings of a club rock culture in the Capital, which sustained beyond the festival.. Last year, Kingfisher Pubrockfest was taken to 7 cities and 30 gigs. This year, it is bigger than ever, going into 20 cities and 60 gigs over May, June and July.

Kingfisher Pubrockfest this year will see some of the greatest names in the music circuit, along with many new acts and two international acts touring the country.

Please Note: The Kingfisher Pubrockfest will start from 10th May from Pune
