Shaa’ir + Func, Nischay Parekh, BLOT!, The Mavyns and more will play the single-day festival.
Hyderabad has existed on the fringes of the Indian indie movement for many years now, playing host to a limited number of club and college shows every year and producing only a handful of touring artists. The city is, however, receiving some much needed attention from promoters and will see some interesting Indian indie programming over the next couple of weeks. One such event is the Off The Record Festival. Started as a series of gigs that has already seen performances by the likes of The Family Cheese, Your Chin and Krunk All-Stars, the festival edition of the series is a day-long event set to take place on December 28 at Marakesh Durgam Cheruvu, Jubilee Hills.
The Off The Record Festival features an interesting selection of artists on the bills, including Mumbai electro-pop act Shaa’ir + Func (pictured), singer-songwriter Nischay Parekh, recently reunited rock quartet The Mavyns, and audio-visual collective BLOT! All these acts, apart from The Mavyns, have been doing the festival rounds this season and Hyderabad can expect their A-game at the event.

Hyderabad will also see the City of M festival take place between December 28-31 (details), and will feature a lineup that includes the likes of Indian Ocean, Dualist Inquiry, Pentagram, Swarathma and more. Plenty of choices for Indian indie fans in Hyderabad this month, and with a ticket price of just Rs 800, the Off The Record Festival makes a compelling argument for a dekko.
