Sunburn Noida lineup, tickets, announced
A confirmed lineup for the Noida edition of the Sunburn festival, which is set to take place on October 6, has been announced. The lineup includes a good mix of international and local acts, including Dutch trance project Dash Berlin (pictured above), Australian sisters Nervo (pictured outside), Dutch duo Rank 1 and American producer Shogun (who was in India earlier for ASOT600MUM) and electro-house producer Porter Robinson. Indian acts are also well represented at this years edition of Sunburn Noida, which will see sets by Anish Sood, Lost Stories and more. The venue for the day long festival is yet to be announced, but tickets are now available on the festival website for Rs 1,950 (students), Rs 2,400 (general) and Rs 4,000 (VIP). No Cover Charge releases Blek episode
New video series No Cover Charge has been releasing fortnightly videos of young acts reinterpreting classic Indian indie tracks. Following two Pentagram covers and one ‘PSP 12″‘ cover, the fourth video in the series sees Mumbai trio Blek pay homage to Shaa’ir + Func with their take on ‘Lord Inside’. Watch it below, and mark your calendars for what’s probably the last Blek gig for a while, at Kino 108 on August 29. The Vans OFF THE WALL gig tonight also features sets by garage punk trio The Lightyears Explode and Delhi electronica duo Teddy Boy Kill, who return to Mumbai after a three year gap.
The Live Music Project announces more gigs
Goa organisation The Live Music Project has been organising weekend gigs at Colva venue Tawa. This Saturday (August 31) sees the venue host a classic rock night with Danish artist Carsten Kragelund and an acoustic set by Liverpool songwriter Lee Nolan. September 7 marks the launch of The Indie Night Project, bringing Indian indie bands from around the country to Goa on a more regular basis. The night, the joint brainchild of The Live Music Project and ennui.BOMB, will bring upcoming Indian indie acts to the Goa venue. The first edition of the event features sets by garage rock act Bone Broke (who recently played at The Scene v4.0 in Mumbai), and The Lightyears Explode. Both gigs kick off at 7.30pm and entry is free.
The Family Cheese release music video
Mumbai jam trio The Family Cheese released their debut EP Stories Of The Places You’ve Never Been last night with a gig at Blue Frog, Mumbai. They’ve also released a music video for the track ‘UNIR’. The video sees the band collaborate with a few friends to experiment with some DIY projection mapping on a styrofoam background, with the trio performing in the foreground. Check out the video below. Off The Record, Hyderabad, announced
Hyderabad gets a new monthly gig series starting August 31, and it’s called Off The Record @ Rowson Reserve’s Smooth Spaces. The event, which takes place at The Shed: Potens Crossfit Centre, aims to showcase “original and experimental music in an easy-going setting” with an edition occurring every month. For the first edition, Chennai jam band The Family Cheese, Bangalore alt-rock band Mad Orange Fireworks and Hyderabad alt-rock act Upper Basement will look to kick off the series on a high note. Tickets for Off The Record are priced at Rs 200.
