There’s a lot happening in the world of Indian indie music and culture every day. Here’s our pick of the daily news, served up in one handy spot. This is your Quick Fix.
PCRC Party Aazadi Edition announced
Late last month, the terrace of Building 87 in Delhi’s Hauz Khas Village hosted a DIY gig, of sorts, with performances by Chennai act The Shakey Rays, Delhi’s Peter Cat Recording Co. (pictured), and more. The venue will host an all-day Independence Day party tomorrow. Kicking off with a flag hoisting ceremony at 1.30pm, the PCRC Party #2, Aazaadi Edition, will feature sets by The Shakey Rays and Peter Cat Recording Co, as well as by dream pop trio Begum, Delhi producer Audio Pervert, Antoine and Moonshine. The terrace will also host kite flying (bring your own kite, we presume) and a disco. We know it’s a dry day, but this is a BYOB party, and there will be a limited amount of punch. M-A-D Blues Night announced
As part of The Monsoon Festival, an arts and culture festival that takes place in Delhi from August 9 to 24 (schedule here), Blue Frog, Delhi, will host the M-A-D Blues Night on August 16. Much in the vein of this song (or this performance group, or this Bluth-by-marriage), they’re going all blue, with all the music and art on the night revolving around the colour, which serves as a prominent theme for The Monsoon Festival. In order to evoke “many monsoony emotions“, the night will feature blues acts including Sikkim-born singer-songwriter Tshering Theeng, acoustic duo Me And The Devil and Delhi blues-rock act Big Bang Blues. The event will also feature a projection installation by artist Ameeth Singh, as well as a design mela. The event kicks off at 8.30pm and entry is Rs 500, full cover.
The Live Music Project gigs, Goa, announced
This Saturday, Goa platform The Live Music Project will host a post-Independence Day celebration on August 17, which also serves as a party for World Goa Day. The night features a performance by Goan fusion band Shanti, which comprises Yograj Naik on guitars, Santan Carvalho on drums and Edwin Braganza on double bass. The free gig takes place at the Baywatch Resort, Colva, and kicks off at 7.30pm. Check out a poster below.
