The Lightyears Explode release video
A few days ago, a short teaser featuring the P-Man going splat all over the screen was released on the internet. The full video is now out, Mumbai garage punk trio The Lightyears Explode have just released the video for ‘The P-Man Explodes’. The grungy video shows the band venture into the seedy erotica-lined den of Rohit “P-Man” Pereira to have a music video made, and to get some swag lessons in the process. Directed by videographer Tanvi Gandhi, the video was shot at the jam room at Sitara Studios, in one all-night session.

Blackstratblues releases new track
A couple of months ago, Warren Mendonsa’s Blackstratblues released a work-in-progress track titled ‘Folkish Three’ as preview material to the act’s upcoming album. Last night, yet another work-in-progress, titled ‘Renaissance Mission’ (formerly known as ‘Singulist’), was released for the internet to hear and love. The track features Karsh Kale on the drums and Adi Mistry on bass, and you can stream it below.

CounterCulture kicks off #PayForTheArts
“The gigs are free but the art shouldn’t be. If you like what you see, you pay what you feel,” say the folks at Bangalore venue CounterCulture as they kick off their #PayForTheArts campaign. The campaign works on the pay-what-you-want model, used earlier by Mumbai gig series Control ALT Delete and others, wherein attendees are free to pay as much as they see fit. The gigs will see talented local acts play, and the campaign kicks off on Wednesday, August 14, with a performance by Bangalore band Parvaaz. The gig begins at 9.00pm, check out a poster below.
