Skazi India tour announced
Submerge is hitting your gig calendar with full force this year. The first week of September will see Israeli psy-trance DJ Skazi (pictured outside) tour India. Skazi will perform in India on September 6, 7 and 8, but no more venue and ticketing details have been announced yet. Check out a poster below, and hit play on Skazi’s latest album My Way, while you wait.
Hail Mogambo tour dates announced
Fans of Scribe (pictured inside) have been waiting patiently for the release of Hail Mogambo, the band’s fourth studio album. They’ve been playing select tracks from the album at their recent shows, and now, they’ve released a set of tour dates. Scribe will tour the country extensively between September and January, check out a list of confirmed dates and details below.
September 11 – Bangalore
September 19 – Hyderabad
September 28 – Jaipur
October 5 – Mumbai
October 19 – Pune
October 20 – Pune
November 30 – Bacardi NH7 Weekender, New Delhi
December 15 – Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Kolkata

The Lightyears Explode release video
A few days ago, a short teaser featuring the P-Man going splat all over the screen was released on the internet. The full video is now out, Mumbai garage punk trio The Lightyears Explode have just released the video for ‘The P-Man Explodes’. The grungy video shows the band venture into the seedy erotica-lined den of Rohit “P-Man” Pereira to have a music video made, and to get some swag lessons in the process. Directed by videographer Tanvi Gandhi, the video was shot at the jam room at Sitara Studios, in one all-night session.
Blackstratblues releases new track
A couple of months ago, Warren Mendonsa’s Blackstratblues released a work-in-progress track titled ‘Folkish Three’ as preview material to the act’s upcoming album. Last night, yet another work-in-progress, titled ‘Renaissance Mission’ (formerly known as ‘Singulist’), was released for the internet to hear and love. The track features Karsh Kale on the drums and Adi Mistry on bass, and you can stream it below.
CounterCulture kicks off #PayForTheArts
“The gigs are free but the art shouldn’t be. If you like what you see, you pay what you feel,” say the folks at Bangalore venue CounterCulture as they kick off their #PayForTheArts campaign. The campaign works on the pay-what-you-want model, used earlier by Mumbai gig series Control ALT Delete and others, wherein attendees are free to pay as much as they see fit. The gigs will see talented local acts play, and the campaign kicks off on Wednesday, August 14, with a performance by Bangalore band Parvaaz. The gig begins at 9.00pm, check out a poster below.
