Blues Conscience to play launch gig for debut album
Chennai jazz/blues trio Blues Conscience recently released their debut album, Down & Dirty. The 14-track album is available for sale on OK Listen! The trio will play a launch gig in Bangalore August 9 at BFlat Bar, kicking off at 8.30pm. You can listen to the album here, and check out a gig poster below. Also, check out a live video of the band performing ‘Shaggin’ My Dog’ off the album at a recent edition of IndiEarth’s The Purple Fest.
Saarang announces Pune leg of Band Hunt
Saarang is the annual cultural festival of IIT Madras, and is heralded as one of the best college festivals in the city (check out photos from the 2013 edition here). At the 2013 edition of Decibels, the festival’s annual battle-of-the-bands, we saw several excellent acts from around the region take the stage, notably alt-rock act The F16s. This month, Saarang will host a Band Hunt in Pune, and the winner will get an opportunity to perform at the 2014 edition of the festival, as well as a shot at a Rs 100,000 cash prize. A preliminary round will be held on August 18, and the Pune finals will take place on August 23 at the Smt. Kashibai Nawale College of Engineering, Pune. True School of Music announces DJ Seminar
True School of Music is set to begin its courses on September 16. After announcing their plans for the school a few months ago, they’ve been holding workshops and seminars to give prospective students a better idea of their courses. In this vein, the school will hold a seminar on DJing, conducted by course HOD DJ Uri and course director Reji. The Headstart DJ Seminar takes place on August 8 at Mangiamo, Mumbai, from 4.00pm to 8.00pm. The evening will feature an interactive session with the two DJs, as well as a panel discussion who will take questions and speak about their experiences DJing in India, and their work and equipment. Entry to the seminar is free on a first-come-first-served basis, and you can confirm a spot by emailing info at trueschool dot in.
