Open Mic June 2013, Kolkata, announced
The June edition of Open Mic, Kolkata, takes place on June 27 at Someplace Else and is hosted by Neel Adhikari (of Neel And The Lightbulbs). Over the last two days, local acts were encouraged to send in their demos, and now, a stellar lineup with some of the city’s indie best has been finalised. The night will feature performances by bands including post-punk act The Supersonics, experimental duo Sridhar/Thayil, Gandu Circus, Ganesh Talkies, Ifs And Buts, and many more. Imphal Music Project release teaser
The Imphal Music Project, a collaborative project by Imphal Talkies frontman Akhu Chingangbam, released its first track, ‘Nonglei’, earlier this year. The second episode from the collective is scheduled to release this Sunday, with a track titled ‘Song For Bangladesh’. The track features Summit Attempt on electric guitars and backing vocals. Two versions of the song have been prepared, and a teaser for the first has now been released. Check it out below, and stay tuned for the whole track.
Ghetto Funk night at Mangiamo announced
With suburban Mumbai venue Mangiamo prepping to host weekend gigs, we wondered if it would make up for the closing of Zenzi. While that remains to be seen, parties at the Italian eatery run as per schedule, with a ghetto funk night on the cards for tomorrow (June 28). The night will see DJ Uri spin some tunes, along with Pune producers Big City Harmonics (who we recently saw at the first edition of The Scene). The gig kicks off at 10pm. Check out a poster below.
That’s all the news for today. Stay tuned for more daily editions of the Quick Fix.
