Dualist Inquiry signs to Deckstar
Delhi electronica producer Sahej Bakshi aka Dualist Inquiry has just signed to Los Angeles artist management company Deckstar. The company’s roster currently includes stalwarts such as The Glitch Mob, Steve Aoki, Infected Mushroom and more. We spoke to Bakshi about the signing:
I went to visit LA recently, to attend Coachella and absorb the local music scene, and I was lucky enough to be introduced to someone from Deckstar and they’re very receptive, it was an extremely organic and easy going process from there, and things just fell into place in the most organic way. Plans for a US tour are on the horizon, but they’re currently just plans.
KABOOM!!! @ Sitara Studios announced
Oji’s Escalate (pics) gig last month pretty much cemented Mumbai’s Sitara Studios as an excellent space for EDM parties. The Parel venue will host yet another gig this weekend, featuring Mumbai electronica acts. KABOOM!!! at Sitara Studios, takes place on June 14 and will see sets by local DJ duo AlgoRhythm, drum ‘n’ bass Mental Martians, and Mumbai vets Bay Beat Collective. The gig kicks off at 7.00pm, and entry is Rs 600, full cover. Check out a poster below:
Shankar Tucker crowdfunds new project
American clarinetist Shankar Tucker (interview) has been composing music and putting out videos on his video channel, TheShrutiBox, for over a year. Now, the artist plans to release a full-length album and video series, collaborating with musicians from all over the country. Tucker also plans to collaborate with IndianRaga, an organisation that aims to bring upcoming Indian classical music to an online space. The organisation will come on board as executive producers of the project. To this end, he’s looking to crowdsource the funds to record his new album and video series in a studio setup, as opposed to the travelling setup he has been working with so far. Tucker has set up a Kickstarter campaign, and hopes to raise his goal of $20,000 by August 1. You can donate to Tucker’s project here, and check out his pledge video below:
Shkabang Return To Disco tour announced
Mumbai electro-pop act Shkabang have just announced an upcoming tour, scheduled for the end of June. The band’s Return To Disco tour sees them travel to Bangalore, Cochin and Goa, with an all-new lineup. Shkabang now has Papal Mane (of Pentagram) on bass, Shikhar Manchanda on guitars and Sapna Desai on drums. Check out tour dates below:
