Remember that awesome collaborative track from Weekender 2012 Pune? Yes! That’s the one. Stream and download inside.
After remixing the likes of Pretty Lights, Coldplay and Skrillex, Dualist Inquiry‘s latest studio work includes a remix of Swarathma‘s ‘Naane Daari, a track off the Bangalore band’s sophomore record Topiwalleh. Attendees at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Pune last year would’ve caught a glimpse of it at The Jack & Jones Other Stage (report).
The song features some trademark Dualist Inquiry glitch-y production chops weaved in between the folk-rock tune. Those who’ve seen Swarathma live in recent times will remember the track as an existing stage-burner. The addition of Bakshi’s production prowess is evident; a dubstep-esque section, modulation of Vasu Dixit’s vocals and some hard hitting bass-lines complementing Sanjeev Nayak’s violin. This remix proves to be a fine example of the amalgamation of two distinct music acts. We spoke to Swarathma’s Varun Murali about the track.
Jishnu and I discovered Dualist Inquiry and we really grew to liking his style of electronic dance music. We got talking and after he listened to our record, he chose ‘Naane Daari’. I really liked his style and after initial discussions, all of us were really happy how the remix turned out! We’re playing live in Pune tonight and might include a few surprises too!
