Albatross announce Australia tour
Mumbai horror metal act Albatross have just announced their first international tour. This October, the band set out on their ‘Wings Down Under’ tour, which sees them play in three cities in Australia. Albatross will also be promoting their EP The Kissing Flies through the tour. A State Of Trance 600: Mumbai official aftermovie released
Armin Van Buuren’s world famous radio show A State Of Trance celebrated its 600th episode with a world tour that stopped in Mumbai earlier this year. The Mumbai edition of A State of Trance saw Turf Club, Mumbai, turned into a giant dance floor for a day, with sets by Shogun, Canadian DJ Arnej, Fadi of Egyptian duo Aly & Fila, and Armin Van Buuren himself. Now, the official aftermovie for ASOT600MUM has been released, and the ten minute long clip allows you to relive the gig if you were there, or get an idea of what went down, if you missed it. Unlike most aftermovies, which have no bytes or dialogue, this one also features a special interview with Van Buuren, where he speaks to Submerge head Nikhil Chinapa about the growing scope of EDM in India. Obed Zeme releases debut album
Manipuri guitarist/composer Obed Zeme has just released his debut album, an instrumental record titled Canaan Caravan. The album, which was written and recorded over the space of a decade, is themed around Zeme’s spiritual journey. Canaan Caravan sees a Delhi release shortly, but for now, is available in Manipur and Nagaland. You can pick up physical copies of the album in music stores around Imphal and Tamenglong in Manipur, and in Kohima, Dimapur and Jalukie in Nagaland. You can stream some of Zeme’s work below:
Shillong Battle Rock announced
Shillong Battle Rock, an open battle of the bands contest, is set to take place on June 1 at the State Central Library, Shillong. The heats for the contest take place on May 30 and 31, and June 1 will see a final battle. Winners of the battle take home a cash prize of Rs 1,50,000, as well as assorted merch and other goodies. The gig kicks off at 3.00pm, and will be headlined by Shillong instrumental rock act Rangdap. Tickets for the night are priced at Rs 150 each. Check out a poster below:
