Listen: Swarathma – ‘Iss Sheher’
The BMW Guggenheim Lab, a collaborative initiative that is part community center and part discussion space, travelled to Mumbai in the latter half of 2012 with its central office at the Bhau Daji Lad Museum, and mobile labs at various locations all over the city. The Lab is devoted to creating ideas and initiatives for the sustainable development of cities. Bangalore folk-rockers Swarathma have just released ‘Iss Sheher’, a track that was composed for the Lab. The track speaks of Mumbai, but the underlying emotion can be applied to any city. Reptilian Death release teaser video
After approximately seven years of inactivity, Mumbai death metallers Reptilian Death played a set at Domination: The Deathfest V, which took place in Thane on March 10. The band, which is the side project of Sahil “Demonstealer” Makhija, are currently recording their second full-length album, which is scheduled for release this year. Area 79 festival lineup announced
The Area 79 festival of music and art is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 13, at Blue Frog, Delhi. The day-long festival features four stages, with Indian and international artists showcasing various genres of music. Several acts, including Mumbai alt-rock act Sky Rabbit will also be launching albums or EPs at the festival. Stages are divided into the Live Area, the Techno Area, Psy Area and the Chill/Dub Area. Ticket prices and details for the festival have not been announced yet, more on that as we know about them.
Listen: Gaurav Jagwani – ‘Broken’
In the run-up to the release of his debut album, Conversations Over Coffee, Mumbai singer-songwriter Gaurav Jagwani has just released ‘Broken’, the first single off the album. The somber track is available for free download on the songwriter’s bandcamp page.
