Twice a month, The NH7 Throwdown will introduce you to the country's best b-boys and b-girls, from young'uns to the veterans, the powerheads and the style maniacs. For the second edition of The Throwdown, I watched B-Boy Chosen One practice on a windy terrace.
Sairaj Methari, known to mostly everyone as Sai, began b-boying when he was a mere 12 years old. He's 14 now, and easily able to take on more seasoned b-boys with his cheeky attitude. He picked up some tricky moves after watching his friends jam, and was then introduced to B-boy Xecutioner of Freak N Stylz crew. Sai, aka B-boy Chosen One, is currently one of the youngest b-boys on the circuit, and has been with the veteran crew for a little under a year now.

"How'd you get into b-boying?"
"There were a few kids in my class who used to break, and I liked it. I tried out some moves and I nailed them on the first attempt. I learnt the stab freeze and a few other moves quickly. "There's a fort nearby where a few b-boys used to practice, and one of them began to teach me more. After about a month and a half, I was able to do moves on my wrist, and my teacher was thrilled. He introduced me to B-boy Xecutioner of Freak N Stylz, who's known for his wrist moves. "I went to a workshop by B-Boy Chino, that's where I met Xecutioner. He loved what I did, I've been practicing with the crew since then."

"What's your philosophy? Why do you like b-boying?"
"I like breaking, because it's a very unique dance form. There's a lot of style involved, and I enjoy battles. Attitude mangta hain na." "That attitude comes while you're dancing. I want to learn more and be the type of b-boy that people respect."
