This Monday’s Five at 5 serves rock ‘n’ roll up nice and thick. Stop playing pretend-work and tune in.
The Indiecision Five at 5 is our attempt at sharing our musical tastes with you, and showcasing music from around the world. Each weekday at 5pm sharp, one NH7 writer or staffer will bring you five songs he/she is listening to on the day. NH7′s Social Media Jedi Abhishek Khan doses you up with a workingman’s five today. Check it out.
1. Pond – ‘Giant Tortoise’
Pond’s done it again with this new track. If you’re familiar with them, this will easily work its way up to your (insert name of music device).
2. Gary Clark Jr. – ‘Numb’
I love heavy riffs and this really does it. I love the new sound of blues that is emerging. Sounds a little like that Black Keys song? No shit, they didn’t invent the blues.
3. The Heavy – ‘Can’t Play Dead’
This band’s got a great sound. And it’s been forever since I’ve seen a black singer in rock and roll.
4. Bleeding Rainbows – ‘Drift Away’
I’m a sucker for female rock vocalists. Bleeding Rainbows have a shoegaze-y sound which I quite like. This track is off Yeah Right which released yesterday (it comes with a digital booklet).
5. Frankie Chavez – ‘Whatever It Takes’
Frankie Chavez has a very evolved blues sound which is refreshing to hear. A lot of his tracks have classic blues slide guitar, but they are still so refreshing.
