Can’t differentiate between houseminimal and dubstep? Not sure what “drop the bass” or “BPM” really mean? Don’t know which artists to listen to right now? Have no fear, for this week, Sohail Arora aka Ez Riser (also of Bay Beat Collective) talks to NH7 about five artists he’s into who you should probably give a listen to.

Nicolas Jaar
One of the finest producers out there and one of my favourites in the last year or so. It’s how he combines haunting synths with minimal grooves that really makes him stand out. ‘Space Is Only Noise If You Can See’ is a perfect example of that. Buy the album here.

Spoonbill
Spoonbill is the main inspiration for my solo project Ez Riser. This is the signature sound of Spoonbill. It’s glitch-hop at its unique best.

Koan Sound
According to me, KOAN Sound are the masters of bass-heavy music. They provide the perfect blend of melody and aggression through their music. More KOAN Sound for your aural pleasure here.

Rockwell
Rockwell is a big drum ‘n’ bass artist who has now moved to a very experimental space and evolved into a monster of a producer. Big tune.

Sandunes
Sanaya Ardeshir aka Sandunes is one of my favourite producers in the country right now. She’s also an artist that I’ve gigged with in 2012, as Ez Rizer and as Bay Beat Collective. Download her first EP Temper Tonic here.
