The festival is now in its 11th edition and will be headlined this year by Dutch jazz-fusion act Spinifex.
The Fireflies Festival of Music is back and the 2013 edition will once again take place at the Fireflies Ashram in Bangalore on February 10. The festival is well-known to scenesters in Bangalore as a day-long (although it started out as a night-long) music festival. The festival is now in its 11th edition and it’s still going strong even though they’ve shifted from the popular all-night format. The venue is known for its wonderful amphitheatre which has a banyan tree in the background and its famous BYOB policy, which is also very much appreciated by patrons of the festival (check out all our coverage of Fireflies which stretches all the way from 2010 here).
This year around, it looks like the lineup of the festival will be more of the same type of artists programmed by the people down at the Fireflies Ashram, although their headline act could be really interesting to watch. Spinifex (pictured) from The Netherlands top the bill this year and they are band that play western contemporary music (think jazz and fusion here), but they constantly improvise their music on the spot. Spinifex have put together Spinifex Indian Spin FX, which is a band that is greatly inspired by Carnatic music. Check out the full lineup below.
