The second edition of the fundraising festival in the hills features sets by Papon & The East India Company, Peter Cat Recording Co. and more.
The second edition of the Kasauli Rhythm & Blues Festival has just been announced, and will take place from March 29 to 31 at the Baikunth Resorts, Kasauli (pictured). Last year’s inagural edition of the event featured some big indie acts including Mrigya, The Raghu Dixit Project, Shaa’ir + Func and Parikrama, and some of these will be returning this year. This year, the festival lineup also includes Delhi jazz/gypsy cabaret act Peter Cat Recording Co. (pictured outside), songwriting duo Sridhar/Thayil, Delhi blues act Big Bang Blues, Papon & The East India Company and Ankur and The Ghalat Family. There will also be a collaborative set with Kolkata acoustic rock act Neel and The Lightbulbs performing alongside folk musicians from Barmer, Rajasthan. The final day of the festival showcases the army brass band at Kasauli Club.
If you do make it to the festival, remember that you’ll be chilling in the hills for a good cause. Proceeds from the Kasauli Rhythm & Blues Festival go to the Genesis Foundation, and will contribute to funds needed for life-saving surgery of underprivileged children. Access to the festival is through ‘donor cards’, priced at Rs 5,500 per head. The festival website gives a list of accommodation options in the area, as well as travel information.
