It’s that time of the day again. Five songs at 5pm. Tune in.
We listen to a lot of music here at the NH7 office. The Indiecision Five at 5 is our attempt at sharing our musical tastes with you, and showcasing music from around the world. Each day at 5pm sharp, one NH7 writer or staffer will bring you five songs he/she is listening to on the day. We hope you like them. Today, NH7′s Anuj Gupta presents his five picks of the day. Check ‘em out.
1. Soundgarden – ‘By Crooked Steps’
On Jan 1, 2010, Chris Cornell hinted at a Soundgarden reunion. Three years later, they released their first real album in 15 years. This song alone made the wait worth it. The band has recently shot a music video for the song directed by Dave Grohl.
2. The Staves – ‘Winter Trees’
If the end of Simon & Garfunkel left a void in your life, these sisters’ harmonies might just be able to fill it. The group recently supported Fink on their India tour in December 2012.
3. Deftones – ‘Romantic Dreams’
Deftones have a habit of writing their “best song ever” in each album that they release. This one’s from their latest offering, Koi No Yokan.
4. Tame Impala – ‘Why Won’t They Talk to Me?’
This song sounds like a lost tune from the Innerspeaker 2009 sessions, and that’s probably the best thing about it. Repeated reason for being one of the most critically acclaimed bands of recent times.
5. RNDM – ‘Hollow Girl’
Joseph Arthur and Jeff Ament from Pearl Jam, along with Richard Stuvered from The Fastbacks, got together to form RNDM. Their 8/10 album sounds nothing like their main projects.
