Wild City has partnered with gig venue CounterCulture and HUB, India’s first anthology of electronic music, to launch Epoch, an annual gig that will showcase the best new alternative Indian music of the year. The first edition of Epoch will take place on December 31, 2012, (provided the world hasn’t ended before that) and will showcase artists from New Delhi, Mumbai Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Munbir Chawla, editor of Wild City, spoke to us about the event

We’re hoping to make this a yearly event, maybe even quarterly if it goes well. The idea is to showcase producers and alternative musicians who’ve been pushing out new material throughout the year, hence the lineup. We’ve tied up with HUB and Counterculture for this, I’ll be playing representing Wild City, Teddy Boy Kill (pictured outside) will represent HUB (he was one of the writers), then there’s Schizophonic from Bangalore, and others representing Hyderabad and Mumbai. We’re hoping this will be a platform for newer musicians and producers to play alongside more established ones.

HUB is India’s first anthology of electronic music, which includes artist profiles, features, and a history of Indian electronica all the way from 1982. The book is a collaboration between the Goethe-Institut, Music Gets Me High and Samrat B aka Teddy Boy Kill. Interested? You can download a copy here.
