Paul van Dyk, BT and Fedde Le Grand are some of the biggest names this year, but haven’t we done this all before? Also, ticket prices are much steeper this time around.
The sixth edition of Sunburn is all set to take place in Goa with the official lineup announcement being made by organizers, Percept, today. This year, the giant EDM festival will look to consolidate it’s position as one of the biggest dance music festivals in Asia by continuing to bring down some of the best DJs in the world. While the headliners might not be as exciting as last year or indeed as exciting as some of their smaller Sunburn events (such as Afrojack performing at Sunburn Colombo), they are some experienced performers on the bill. A return to India beckons for veteran German DJ Paul van Dyk (pictured outside), who will play his second Sunburn, and the same can be said for American electronic music producer BT (in fact, one replaced the other two years ago, details here). Dutch DJ Fedde Le Grand is also among the top DJs this year, and joining him will be his fellow countryman Sander van Doorn and English DJ James Zabiela (pictured inside). All of the DJs we’ve mentioned so far have toured India at one point or the other over the past few years, and we’re sensing a lack of imagination in the lineup this time around. The only act that appears at the top of the bill that haven’t played here before are Dutch trance duo W&W, and although some of the smaller acts have changed, there is a sense of deja vu with regards to this lineup.

While the lineup might be regarded as slightly tepid, the ticket prices are headed in a clear direction, and that direction happens to be upwards. The regular ticket prices are on the rise with the regular three-day pass going from Rs 6,440 (after tax) to Rs 8,855 (after tax) and the VIP pass shooting up from Rs 11,960 (after tax) to Rs 14,950 (after tax).
