Rooftoop Scenes with Under The Influence

  • Setting the Stage
With a keyboard and a fairly simple sound setup, Ashutosh of Under The Influence began warming up for their set.

Under The Influence played a special set for their friends, as a build up to their upcoming performance at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Bangalore, at a terrace in Mumbai on Saturday, December 1.

  • Gather 'round people...
The gig was on the terrace of a Mumbai resident and a few friends of the band gathered at this venue to make the most of what would be a really fun night.

  • Starting to get Under The Influence
Under The Influence are a two-piece alt rock act which features Abhijeet (guitar, vocals) and Ashutosh (keyboards). They're gonna play at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender 2012, Bangalore, so you can catch them there if you missed this set.

  • Beer
They call it the social lubricant and they really do help you get "under the influence".

  • Scheming in the corner
The terrace was pretty big and the handful of people who were in attendance got plenty of spaces to have their own private conversations.

  • Spending time with friends
The gig was a great social gathering as well because the intimate setting and relaxed vibe put everyone at ease. You could have a conversation with anyone there because the music wasn't too loud and there was always somebody to introduce you to people you didn't know. Speed Dating, eat your heart out.

  • Everyone's invited
Under the Influence encouraged a lot of people to come and sing with them and a few people were pretty interested.

  • "Play the Mario Theme!"
Ashutosh managed to play some of the best parts of the iconic Nintendo theme song, which is always fun.

  • Wedding Season
A small gig on the roof was not the centre of attention on that nice winter night in Mumbai. It's wedding season and there were plenty of these ceremonies going on below us.

  • Party time!
The small audience kept things noisy even after the performance ended, with your usual assortment of jokes, gags and stories.

  • Spoilsport
Some people took the gig-on-the-terrace idea a bit too seriously and decided not to join in. This totally ruined the sociological study that we were undertaking about "Terrace Gigs and their Socio-Cultural Position as Ice-Breakers."

  • O is for Om
Other folks preferred to see the spiritual side of things with quiet (but bright) meditation.

  • Deeply Under The Influence
It seems that the band had an effect on the camera person who was clearly under the influence.

  • "Grab your stuff it's time to go!"
"Ok, everyone out!" That's what the host said, but Ashutosh took time out to play some leaving-the-party-and-going-straight-home music.

  • "Dude Where's My Car?"
"Oh yeah, I didn't drive here!" Good going, you remembered! Next stop: Hangover.
