In the run-up to the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Bangalore, the NH7 team (pictured above) will bring you bits of vital information about some of the acts that are scheduled to play Weekender. In order to be in the know, before, during, and after the festival, you’d best learn all of this. Who knows, you might even get some tips on where to eat some hangover-defeating kheema pao. Check out our first list of artists you oughta know about, and stream songs by them too.

The Staves are a folk-rock trio of sisters from Watford. They supported indie folk legend Bon Iver on a tour of the United States and Canada in 2012. Watford won their last league championship game 4-1 against Barnsley F.C. on December 1.

Ash Roy is an electronic music producer from Calcutta who won the 1999 DMC World DJ Regional Finals. In 2004, he formed Jalebee Cartel with Ashvin Mani Sharma and Arjun Vagale. Jalebee Cartel is known for the EDM they make, not the deep-fried Indian sweets they smuggle.

Idan Raichel is an Israeli singer-songwriter, known for the Idan Raichel Project, a fusion of electronica, Hebrew texts, Middle Easten, and Ethiopian music. His collaboration with Vieux Farka Toure led to the formation of The Toure-Raichel Collective, resulting in The Tel Aviv Session, an album that topped the iTunes World Music sales charts and peaked at number two on the Billboard World Music Chart.

Inner Sanctum is a highly acclaimed thrash/death metal act from Bangalore. Having won I-Rock and GIR, the band opened for Slayer at the 2012 Rock ‘N India in Bangalore. Rock ‘N India is known for bringing down stellar metal acts every year such as Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and um, the Backstreet Boys.

Ox7gen is the electronica project of Aditya Ashok, who also plays drums for Shaa’ir + Func and is involved in six (yes, six) musical projects. He is the responsible, fatherly figure in his group of friends, and cures his hangovers with Kheema Ghotala at Goodluck, Bandra (Mumbai).

The Bicycle Days are a five-piece alternative rock band from Bangalore. They will definitely not be showing off their cycling skills by participating in the Tour De India, since it is only being held in Srinagar, Mumbai and Delhi.

Nigel Rajaratnam is a singer-songwriter from Bombay who is also part of Dischordian. He is a multi-instrumentalist who plays the guitar, the melodica, and the sax. As a kid, he hated music and expressed this by breaking his mum’s cassettes.

Stay tuned for more vital information about Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Bangalore artists in the coming days (full lineup here). And if you haven’t bought your tickets to the happiest music festival yet, get them here.
