Xavier Institute of Communication’s MADMA (or Madness in Mass Communication and Advertising) focuses on various aspects of media and in it’s 2012 edition, the festival is very young, fresh and will feature musical performances, contests and workshops by various media professionals.

Local band Something Relevant (pictured inside) will play the festival; a gig that might prove interesting due to the association band has with the college. The other act featured will be Pune rock act Ashwamedh. The performances will be held on Sunday, Feb 12 from 5pm.

The festival will also feature workshops by film actor and writer Saurabh Shukla (on film-making), advertising professional Angello Dias (on his experiences in the world of advertising and the creative development process) and Randolph Correia (pictured outside) of Shaa’ir + Func and Pentagram (on ad jingle making). The workshops will require prior registration and details can be found on their Facebook page or website.

Another event that seems interesting is called Band Relations. It asks student teams to choose a band from a list and create promotional strategies and videos for the band. Details related to the event can be found here. The fest will also be hosting a stand-up comedy event and a short film festival. The full list of events and rules can be found on the festival website.
