Mumbai alt rockers Blek recently announced their debut EP Hexes + Drama, And Other Reasons For Evacuation, to be released on ennui.BOMB Records. As a build-up to the release of the fairly anticipated EP, the Mumbai trio are giving away one song as a free download on NH7. ‘Monkey Song’ is a bonus track on their EP.
Vocalist Rishi Bradoo told us previously that they’re trying to change the perception of the band to play more dance-y music that is grunge-inclined with punk influences. ‘Monkey Song’ is definitely a head-wagging-hand-in-pocket-shoe-shuffler with energetic drums, incessant guitars, a playful bassline and a hook that will have you at, “Yes, yes, yes”. Oh, lest I forget, the ‘ting ting tede-ting’ of the cowbell. Sigh.
