Opeth to Headline Summer Storm 2012

Swedish progressive metal band Opeth is all set to headline Summer Storm 2012 on February 5. This was confirmed by Opeth on their official website (check out the details of the Asian leg of their Heritage world tour here) and by Summer Storm’s organizers, Overture India, on their Facebook page. Opeth are no strangers to India having already played the Saarang festival 2009 in Chennai which was hosted by IIT-Madras (more on that here). Booking Opeth (who are the “Sigur Ros of Scandinavian Death Metal” according to the Village Voice) is quite an impressive feat, so we caught up with Arpan Peter of Overture India and found out more

The first Summer Storm had Lamb of God and we got a good response from the audience. We wanted to get someone of the same stature. My partner and I are big fans of Opeth, so we kept in touch with their (Opeth’s) management anyway. They let us know about the Asia tour that Opeth had planned and we decided to make a bid which we are now taking forward… We hope to make this year’s Summer Storm even better.
