Fly On The Wall is our pick of the best Indian indie live videos posted by bands, fans, and flies on the wall.
Prithibi @Jaipuria College
This video is on this list simply because it has a really funny bit around the 1:08 second mark. College festivals are never as clean as the organizers say they are. In this video for instance, plumes of smoke (the festival security team is going to get an earful for this) float by the camera as Prithibi performs in the background. Meanwhile, the cameraman seems to be having an argument with one of his friends. Five points to whoever can make sense of their conversation.
Ranjit Barot @ MTV Unplugged
MTV Unplugged has some fantastic production quality and large-scale performances (as we have documented many times on Fly On The Wall) and this video just reinforces that. The orchestra in this video is fantastic, the size and the scale of it all added to the masterful arrangement make Ranjit Barot’s ‘Shloka’ another must-watch from the MTV Unplugged series.
The Raghu Dixit Project @ Counter Culture, Bangalore
The Raghu Dixit Project takes the stage at Counter Culture and give a hallmark performance. Whether it is the soulful music or the fact that the audience is so greatly involved with this act (look for the laughter and the smiles and you shall find them easily here), Raghu Dixit’s performances are simply uplifting. The video and audio quality of this video are quite good which is yet another reason why this video is worth saving for those days when you need a pick-me-up.
Highway 61 @ Hard Rock Cafe, Pune
They will always be remembered as the rockers that rocked with the legend of rock by beating rock bands at Rockathon. This already makes Highway 61 quite a kvlt band (more on this rocking story here). So to see them headbanging in sync and wearing white kurtas with colourful scarves makes for great entertainment. Let’s hope they keep making more videos!
Spud In The Box @ Live From The Console, Mumbai (more details here)
The young rock act from Mumbai put on a great show at the last edition of Live From The Console, with a mix of folk tunes and acoustic songs. Don’t miss Rohan Rajadhyaksha and Ankit Dayal’s duet and Vivaan Kapoor’s over-the-top drumming style, in this song.
