The Bacardi NH7 Weekender welcomes all kinds of people and the crowd this year were colorful and crazy. We’ve spotted everything from an invasion of people wearing Gandhi topis illuminated with lights and blue afro wigs, as well as co-ordinated costumes and face/body paint. Some people brought props with them like mannequin arms, foam fingers and funny hats. One duo particularly impressed us with their commitment to individuality and reminded us of childhood times. Two girls brought hula hoops to the Weekender in order to just keep hula hooping to their favourite music. We had a chat with one of them to find out more.
Christabel Menezes has been living in Pune since July of this year and claims to be from “nowhere in particular really”. She began dancing with her hula hoop since April/May of this year. “It was really hard at first and I’m amazed at how people I meet over here (Bacardi NH7 Weekender) pick it up so easily. It took me about three hours of practice to do it right.” Christabel has been dancing with her hula hoop ever since and has carried it with her to many places. “It’s hard to dance in tight spaces obviously but I like to take it to High Spirits and dance there. I really love dubstep and drum and bass but its so hard to find that in India. I also really love how a place like Pepsi Dub Station is here at the Weekender. I hope there is more dubstep and drum and bass in the future.”
