Bacardi NH7 Weekender: Day Two Roundup

We’ve got a full roundup of everything that went down at day two of India’s happiest music festival.

Indiecision Staff

Day two of our very own music festival, the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, kicked off yesterday with six stages active and a host of acts from India and around the world performing to a sold out Laxmi Lawns near Magarpatta City. About an hour after the gates opened, Saturday tickets ran out and some time after that, Weekend tickets sold out as well. While we’ve increased capacity for Sunday, we highly recommend you get to the festival grounds early to ensure you get a spot. Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Imogen Heap headlined the day at The Dewarists Stage.

A classic scene lineup of rock acts populated the Bacardi Black Rock Arena, which was closed by Mumbai electro-rock giants Pentagram (all the action from the Rock Arena can be found here). The Eristoff Wolves Den saw a bass-heavy lineup that included BASSFoundation, B.R.E.E.D and a special set by Bobby Friction (full report here). The Dewarists Stage saw an eclectic lineup of laid-back rock and blues (full report), and was headlined by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Imogen Heap (details of her set here). The Pepsi Dub Station once again brought together a host of reggae, dubstep and percussive acts, including a special set by DJ MoCity and friends (Dualist Inquiry, Humble The Poet and others, read a full report of the action at the Pepsi Dub Station here).

Some highlights from the day

  • Artists at the Eristoff Wolves Den seemed taken by Bling Uncle, with almost all of them giving him a shoutout from stage. He responded by filming himself and dancing angular-ly. Business as usual.
  • New Delhi alt rockers menwhopause closed their set at the Bacardi Black Rock Arena with a particularly energetic, almost metal rendition of their encore regular ‘Kaatil Sardar’ that prompted some mammoth singalongs and ROTFLs. It was a day for frontmen at the stage with Randeep Singh, Sidd Coutto and Vishal Dadlani all taking the performances of their respective bands up a few notches with their individual energy.
  • Even though Zero’s set was postponed, DJ MoCity, Dualist Inquiry and Humble The Poet wowed the crowd at the Pepsi Dub Station with a rare collaboration, turning the stage into a massive house party.
  • On her last song, Imogen Heap whipped out an edgy keytar solo and sporting a slick pair of white shades. After a particularly intimate set, this rock star moment endeared Ms Heap to the audience even more.
  • In the middle of their set at The Dewarists Stage, The Raghu Dixit Project stopped mid-song, because the crowd weren’t dancing enough. It’s a simple formula – ‘I sing, you dance’. The crowd responded appropriately.
  • #OverheardAtNH7 –  ”You know, I’m waiting for the IPL to start. I will support Pune Warriors! I’m telling you, I’ll move”.
