Festival season is upon us. The next few months are going to see some exciting music festivals around the country that feature artists not only from India, but from around the world. The season kicks off this month with the Big Mushroom Cloud Festival this weekend. The day-long event will see performances by a host of newer indie acts including Peter Cat Recording Co (pictured) and The Bicycle Days. The festival will be held at CounterCulture, Bangalore on Saturday, November 5 and tickets are Rs 850 a pop.
The Great Indian Octoberfest comes back with perhaps its biggest lineup ever. The three-day event will take place in Bangalore between November 11-13 and will be headlined by Finnish rockers Poets Of The Fall. The festival will see performances by a host of alternative artists from India including Ram Sampath, Rabbi Shergill, Junkyard Groove and others. Check out the full lineup of the festival here.
Running at pretty much the same time as The Great Indian Octoberfest is the Storm Festival in Coorg. The two-day festival (November 11-12) features a host of Indian indie artists alongside a bunch of DJs from India and around the world. Check out the full lineup of the Storm Festival here.
The 15th edition of annual battle-of-the-bands competition Strawberry Fields will take place between November 25-27 at the National Law School campus in Bangalore. 45 bands will compete for top honours at the competition, headlining acts for which are yet to be announced. The 26th edition of Independence Rock will also take place at the end of the month. The longest running rock event in the country comes back with sponsor power and a nationwide rock competition. Lest we forget, our very own three-day music festival, the NH7 Weekender goes down in Pune this month between November 18-20. Phew! It’s a great month for gigs.
