Thrash metal legends Metallica may not have played Gurgaon but they most definitely brought the house down in Bangalore (pics and the setlist from the gig here). The atmosphere at Palace Grounds was electric and the crowd was going absolutely beserk watching their heroes belt out their favourite tunes in the flesh. We’ve collected some of our favourite fan videos from Metallica’s set below.
‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’
It is a bit shaky at first but once the camera gets steady, one can see how close to the stage our intrepid cameraman is. Props for the trying to get a crowd shot in!
‘Ride The Lightning’
It feels like James Hetfield is addressing you personally as you look through a silhoutte of a field of hands firmly locked in the up-the-irons positions. The jumbo monitor is in full view and then, everyone promptly begins to ‘Ride the Lightning’. Can’t ask for more from a fan video.
‘Welcome Home (Sanitarium)’
This is another video that seems to be almost right in front of Metallica and it illustrates the size of the stage and the quality of the show. Watch James Hetfield leisurely stroll from mic to mic performing with ease and marvel at the scope of the entire thing from a fan’s eye view.
‘One’
The video with the highest quality of all on the list and it actually looks really good. The saturated fluorescent hues of the video monitors burning around the Metallica-shaped figures are almost dreamlike, this is the perfect setting to listen to something as deep as ‘One’. Now that’s top class amateur video right there.
‘Nothing Else Matters/ Enter Sandman’
What better way to close anything, be it a Metallica show or a post about a Metallica show. This is the moment where people will fondly recall “Dude, you should have been there when we sang ‘Nothing Else Matters’ in Bangalore.” and if you weren’t there you have a pretty good idea now.
