Mumbai electro-rockers Pentagram played Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai on Sunday, October 30 as a part of the Sahara Force India Speed Nights. For a crowd that was clearly more interested in the food, Pentagram played a spirited set that lasted almost an hour and a half. Frontman Vishal Dadlani expressed how the tables in front of the stage was clearly something new for a Pentagram outing. With most punters sitting though the entirety of the gig – the crowd energy for a usual Pentagram gig was amiss.
Despite that, Pentagram played a set that included tracks off their fourth and newest studio album Bloodywood, also dropping setlist fixtures such as ‘Animal’, ‘Voice’ and an excellent rendition of ‘Drive’. Guitarist Randolph Correia seemed little more relaxed, as compared to Dadlani whose stage antics grew steadily through the set, resulting in a broken mic stand during ‘Paper Toys’. Dadlani also went off-key for a bit, during the opening of ‘Voice’ and ‘In My Head’.
In between the set, Dadlani also asked if the Metallica gig in Bangalore (photos here) has kicked off, owing to the rumors of a delay in the set (following the fiasco in New Delhi). Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy of Scribe was seen at the gig, alongside American producer, composer and musician Karsh Kale (who was in the country to shoot an episode of The Dewarists). Local hard rock act Blakc opened the evenings proceedings for the electro rockers, after a screening of the inaugural Indian Grand Prix (read our report of the race here).
