Hornbill National Rock Contest 2011 Calls For Entries

Bangalore metallers Slain won the competition last year. The winning band this year walks away with Rs 5 lakhs. Details inside.

The Hornbill National Rock Contest 2011 has called for entries for their annual, seven-day long rock competition. The Rock Contest is part of the Hornbill festival which is organized in Kohima, Nagaland each year to celebrate and preserve Naga Culture. The Rock Contest is a competition on a large scale considering the prize money up for grabs is Rs 5 lakhs for the winning band and the runner-up gets Rs 3 lakhs.

Last year, Banglore band Slain (pictured) took home the big prize while New Delhi death metal band Guillotine took the runner-up spot (they are also opening for Metallica, details here). The rules for bands applying from outside Nagaland are can be seen here and the last day to register is November 10, 2011.
