New Delhi electronica duo Midival Punditz and Indian-American producer/musician Karsh Kale are all set to join a fantastic lineup of R’n'B and hip hop superstars for Keep A Child Alive’s Black Ball, which is going to be held in New York on November 3. Keep A Child Alive is co-founded by R’n'B queen Alicia Keys and the aims of the organization are the help children suffering from HIV/AIDS with medicine, shelter, education and nutrition. The charity was active in Africa only to begin with but they are now reaching out to children in India as well. The Black Ball is an annual charity fundraiser for Keep A Child Alive and the upcoming event is being dedicated to former Beatle George Harrison, who passed away almost ten years ago.
The Indian artists will share the stage with international superstars Mary J Blige, Usher, Will.I.Am, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys and Jay Sean will be performing as well. We caught up with Tapan Raj from Midival Punditz who explained to us why the theme of this year’s Black Ball was India.
They are starting an India Chapter of the Keep The Child Alive Foundation and they are also dedicating it to the memory of George Harrison who has also done a lot of charity work. He’s a big philanthropist for Bangladesh and for India, so he’s obviously an inspiration and the whole culture of India and Indian music was an inspiration for him so this time they are keeping the theme very Indian and so keeping that in mind they chose us. They liked what we were doing with Indian music in the 21st century and it feels like it is a natural progression from they have been hearing about Indian music and what we are doing (with Indian music). It is a fantastic honour. We are just super excited since we heard about it.
More from the Punditz and Karsh Kale (who will also be on The Dewarists) soon.
Midival Punditz will play the Eristoff Wolves Den at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender on Friday, November 18. Tickets are on sale now!
