The Dewarists is a new, 10-part television series that premiered on Sunday, October 16 at 8pm on Star World. The show features collaborations between artists of different genres, shot at locations across India. Each episode will centre around the creation of an original track by the combination of musicians, and will culminate in the performance of the new composition.
The second episode of The Dewarists was broadcast last night. It features Pakistani singer-songwriter duo Zeb & Haniya who collaborate with singers Shantanu Moitra and Swanand Kirkire. The episode is shot in Mumbai and travels to several Mumbai institutions including Chor Bazaar (where the artists find an old Bollywood movie poster shop) and Mohammad Ali Road. The song they compose is titled ‘Kya Khayaal Hai’, the final performance of which is shot in Mumbai’s legendary Capitol cinema. The next episode of The Dewarists features New Delhi rock giants Indian Ocean, who collaborate with singer Mohit Chauhan. It will be broadcast on Sunday, October 30 at 8pm on Star World.
Indian Ocean will perform on The Dewarists Stage at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender 2011 on Sunday, November 20. Tickets are on sale now!
