Fly On The Wall is our pick of the best Indian indie live videos posted by bands, fans, and flies on the wall.
Indian Ocean @ MTV Unplugged (pics from the launch here)
Indian Ocean was completely at home on the MTV Unplugged stage and this video is a testament to that. This setting let them interact with their audience and share rare insights on some of their most beloved songs. ‘Nam Myo Ho’ is a song that they don’t play at shows as much as tracks like ‘Kandisa’, but it was beautifully performed here.
Bombay Bassment @ Live From The Console, Mumbai (pics from the gig here)
Live From The Console is a great concept simply because playing in a giant recording studio makes so much sense. Mehboob Studios has a unique sound to it and Bombay Bassment took full advantage of this with a giddy reggae song in this video. Sometimes playing at a really good venue can make all the difference.
Suraj Jagan @ Umang 2011, Mumbai
College festival gigs are always fun because for the audience it is not always about the artist on stage but how much fun they can have themselves. As evidenced in this video, the audience seems to be having an absolute blast bouncing up and down, standing around, sitting or even ludicrously headbanging while ex-Chakraview man Suraj Jagan keeps them entertained with his own, solo brand on pop rock. This video is more about the kids than it is about Jagan though.
Goddess Gagged @ Counter Culture, Bangalore (photos from the gig here)
Goddess Gagged is climbing up the Indian metal career ladder faster than you can say Exhumation. This video is up-close and personal which gives the viewer a good vantage point to observe the Mumbai band’s intensity and technical ability. Shifting in and out of focus is not a new technique but it works particularly well in this video.
Scribe @ Razzberry Rhinoceros, Mumbai (pics from the gig here)
This video just had to be here because of the off-stage antics that took place at the legendary Mumbai venue. Razz’s has given metal fans so many memories that were akin to this one but this still sticks out. In this particular video, Scribe and the crowd fed off each other to make for an energetic fan video that has a great twist at the end.
PS. Indian Ocean, Goddess Gagged and Scribe will play the Bacardi NH7 Weekender 2011. Tickets are now on sale!
