Warren Mendonsa’s solo project Blackstratblues played Hard Rock Cafe, New Delhi on Thursday, October 13. Sahej Bakshi of Dualist Inquiry joined the band on stage for a short collaboration as he did at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender pre-party (check out the complete list of pre-parties happening all this month, here) at Blue Frog, Mumbai (photos here) recently.
Local blues act Big Bang Blues opened for the Mumbai instrumental project. Blackstratblues took the stage at around 10.30pm. The venue had packed up with some fairly vocal fans of the band and the quartet didn’t disappoint with a tight set that featured material from both their studio albums – Nights In Shining Karma and The New Album. The band also debuted some new music at the gig; a song called ‘E Major Blues’ and an untitled, work-in-progress track as well. The collab with Dualist Inquiry was shaky, but Bakshi showed a lot more confidence on stage at this outing, making for an exciting performance nonetheless.
