Over the last couple of months, the country, from actors to musicians, has been engulfed in a fight against corruption, all in support of Anna Hazare. We’ve put together a collection of the most awesome (or not) music created in support of the anit-corruption hero, ranging from Kochi alt-rockers to Goan pop stars. Watch below. Jai hind.
‘I Am Anna’
UTV Bindass (of Denver Ro-deo presents UTV Bindass Superstud School of Flirt – Powered by Spraymintt fame) have an in-house rapper in Mumbai artist Microphon3. With an “I am Anna” lyrical hook, the song is a cliched patriotic video with kids in Nehru topis, newspaper backdrops and Indian flags.

‘No Contest’
Kochi alt-rockers and facepaint afficionados Motherjane have, in recent times, inclined themselves to social issues such as terrorism, as evidenced by their song ‘Jihad’. Their latest single ‘No Contest’ was written as a tribute to Anna Hazare. Read our detailed review of the song and its video here.

‘Anna Hazare Song’
The ‘Anna Hazare Song’ by Noidarockstar is possibly the best adapted version of Bryan Adams‘ ‘Summer of ’69′ we’ve heard in a long time. Yes, we’ve seen Raghu Dixit’s (of The Raghu Dixit Project) cover for Manipal University as well (watch the video here). The video, other than being an obvious tribute to social legend Anna Hazare, is also a tribute to Shraddharockin. Props for excellent usage of blurbs and embedding lyrics accordingly. Sing along, if you may.

‘Ambar Tak Yehi Naad Gonjega’
Produced by Mad O Wot Productions, this anti-corruption track featuring Kailash Kher sporting a determined expression, is the most credible video supporting the cause. The video is shot mainly in-studio and interspersed with stock footage of the protests, with apt branding when needed. Kher’s vocal delivery adds character to the track, which has quite a catchy hook.

‘India Against Corruption’
A strong contender for the most kvlt anti-corruption song in this feature, ‘India Against Corruption’ by Remo Fernandes gives Noidrockstar’s track stiff competition. Sadly the song has no video, even though we’d love one. With excellent lyrical skills on display, this song makes for a good mood-lifter when facing a dull evening at work. Don’t miss the references to Switzerland.

‘The Anna Hazare Song’
New Delhi rock act Avi & The Uprising released their tribute in the form of ‘The Anna Hazare Song’. With the most innovative way of calling out to Anna, this song uses stock footage you may have possibly seen in most other music videos dedicated to the man.
