Mumbai metal act Scribe has been nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award in the Best Worldwide Act (Africa/India/Middle East) category. Scribe is the first Indian act to have been nominated for this award. The Mumbai metal act has scored a nomination alongside an eclectic selection of musicians from the regions mentioned including Congolese singer-songwriter Fally Ipupa and Wizkid, a 19-year old musician from Nigeria. Winners in each category will be decided by a simple process of voting (to vote, go here). Also, you can vote as many times as you like.
We spoke to frontman Vishwesh Krshnamoorthy about the nomination
Well, the way it happened was that the good people at VH1 India played our video for ‘Dum Hai Toh Aage Aah’. And that’s where it got noticed internationally and was sent as an entry. And, then I fainted after reading a text from them.
I’m glad that Vh1 is making that extra effort to help indie bands find larger stages. It helps us all make the landscape bigger.
I don’t think we ever had the audacity to think that we’d be on the MTV EMA website page and the Artist Page from P-T reads RHCP, Rihanna, Pitbull and Scribe. I love the fact of this happening. All of us are over the moon, and everyone’s up here with us! I do hope we get to go. We’ll go as strapping young scallywags from Bombay with tuxedos, all of us with pencil-thin moustaches. But if we get seated next to the rapper from New Zealand named ‘Scribe’, that’d be W.E.I.R.D.
The award ceremony will be held in Belfast, Northern Ireland on November 6 and Selena Gomez will be hosting the ceremony, according to the official website. Catch the awards on November 8, at 9pm on Vh1 India.

Scribe will be performing at the Bacardi Black Rock Arena at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, from November 18-20. For tickets, go here.
