Shillong blues act Soulmate played Blue Frog on Tuesday, September 20. For a Tuesday night, the gig had a fairly large turnout and the band played a career-spanning set, debuting a couple of new tracks as well. Both the protagonists – guitarist Rudy Wallang and vocalist Tipriti ‘Tips’ Kharbangar – were on form, though we wish the latter had sung a few more songs. While this performance wasn’t as gripping as their gig at the same venue two years ago, it was still a pretty solid outing for the band.
Side note: Opening act Blues No Bar played a sloppy support set before the Shillong quintet. Poorly set up sound and lazy delivery resulted in a imminently forgettable set.
