New Delhi alt-rockers menwhopause played a set at Landmark Bookstore, Infiniti Mall, Mumbai on Thursday, August 18. Blame the odd nature of the venue or the heavy rains, the gig didn’t garner a large turnout. A handful of fans waded through the floods and made it to the Andheri book shop answering some baffled looks by visitors of the bookstore. Having played at the Chennai and Bangalore branches of the bookstore to fairly good response, Mumbai was a letdown in terms of audience numbers.
The tour was was a part of the ‘Rock With menwhopause @ Landmark Stores’ series on account of the band’s album Easy (review here) topping the music sales charts at the said bookstores in Mumbai and New Delhi for the month of March 2011. The band played most of the tracks off their new album. The absence of the vocalist, Sarabjeet, over the last few gigs (photos here, here and here) the band has attuned bassist Randeep Singh to taking charge.
We caught up with the band post the gig to know more about their upcoming gig in Tihar Jail, the success of the album, what they thought of our review and more. Stay tuned for that!
