Prosody Launch Debut Album Paper Plane

The Pune alt-rockers describe its sound as “alternative, funk rock which at times has a bluesy feel to it.”

Pune alternative rock act Prosody recently put out their debut album Paper Plane on their official website for free download. Having been around for over five years now, the band “spent its formative years in the thriving energy of pubs and clubs of Koregaon Park, Banjara Hills and Khirkee.” The band likes to describe its sound as “alternative, funk rock which at times has a bluesy feel to it,” a claim that doesn’t really hold up.

Paper Planes borders on generic alt-rock, with its influences, a curious mix of John Mayer and Porcupine Tree, a tad too obvious for our liking. Lyrically, the band stumbles its way across post-college teenage angst, but succeeds in not being too cringeworthy. The third track on the album, ‘Broken Wings’ shares a faint instrumental similarity to Pete Murray’s popular ‘So Beautiful‘.  We’d like to hear a little more of that claimed “bluesy feel”.

Stream the band’s track ‘Broken Wings’ here and check out the album art below.
