Watch: Live From The Console

A short film captures the energy of the first Indian rock gig held within the hallowed walls of Mumbai’s Mehboob Studios.

Indiecision Staff

On July 16, Mumbai saw the inaugural gig at a brand new venue, Mehboob Studios in Bandra. The first edition saw a screening of the new Foo Fighters (check out our list of the 10 most underrated Foo Fighters songs here) documentary film Back And Forth and performances by Alex Rintu, The Mavyns and The Colour Compound (pictured). Aimed at promoting new and fresh talent, as the official Facebook page says, the venue will host a monthly concert at the suburban venue, with the next one scheduled for August 13. The initiative is backed by Sony Music Independent and Oranjuice Entertainment Pvt. Ltd and hopes at bringing together people from the ‘scene’ without any frills, but with cheap booze.

Below is a short film, directed by Elvis D’Silva, about the first gig at the Recording Studio in the Mehboob Studios complex. The well-produced clip features interviews with the bands that performed and the organisers of the gig, interspersed with live footage of the bands performing.
