Bangalore folk rock act The Raghu Dixit Project and local alt rockers menwhopause played the amphitheatre at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi last weekend, on June 4. The gig, held on the eve of World Environment Day and dubbed “Yamunotsav” was organized by Sweccha, an NGO dedicated to the preservation of the river Yamuna. With free entry and high-quality acts on offer, the relatively small venue was absolutely packed to capacity.
For Delhi’s menwhopause, the gig was an added date to their five-city album launch tour (check out our coverage of the Escape Festival, Mumbai and Pune legs). The Raghu Dixit Project is scheduled to play one more date in India (in Hyderabad on June 18) before they head to Worthy Farms to play the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury 2011.
Check out this monochrome gallery of photographs from the gig.
