Avial Refute Plagiarism Claim

The Kochi alternative rock act has refuted the claim that their song ‘Aanakallan’ is a copy of Sumesh Parmeshwar’s ‘Noir’.

Indiecision Staff

As far as titles go, Malayali alt-rock giants Avial score a ten for being tragically ironic. Last week we put their video for ‘Aanakallan’ under the scope; the title of the song roughly translates to ‘elephant thief’. We soon found a video uploaded by a shadowy YouTube account by the name of musickallan11 pointing out obvious similarities between ‘Aanakallan’ and ‘Noir’, a jazz composition by the virtually unknown Sumesh Parmeshwar.

When contacted, Avial’s management was quick to deny foul-play, simply stating the band “is unaware of the song’s existence and is currently busy touring.”

The truth? We’re uncertain. The most we can do however, is present the video below, along with a tribute to the most morally ambiguous composer of our time (with English subtitles).
