Junkyard Groove Plan New EP

The Ameeth Thomas-fronted Chennai alt rock band, that recently broke up and reformed within the span of 24 hours, has announced a five-track EP. Details inside.

Chennai alternative rock act Junkyard Groove has announced that they will release a 5-track EP titled Busker. The title may have been inspired by last week’s events, when three of the four original members of the band informed Ameeth Thomas via Facebook that they were leaving the band. For a brief period before announcing a new lineup to replace the trio, Ameeth considered a career in busking as a viable alternative.

As reported earlier, JYG’s lineup features former member Hudstin Fernandez (who replaced Jerry John the first time he quit) on drums, 17-year-old Sajith Satya on bass, and on-and-off contributor Naveen Thomas Joseph on lead guitars. Details about the EP are sketchy at the moment, but considering that Thomas recorded demos for the songs the day after the band split, it’s a good bet that themes of heartbreak and nostalgia will feature prominently on Busker.

From happier days, and off the debut JYG album 11:11, check out the music video for ‘Folk You’.
