A few hours after we announced yesterday that Bangalore folk rockers The Raghu Dixit Project‘s debut album had hit #1 on the iTunes World Music Charts in the UK and Amazon UK’s Movers and Shakers list, the entirety of this year’s Glastonbury lineup was revealed. The wave of success the band has been riding suddenly became a tsunami. The band is slated to play one of the biggest stages of the festival, the John Peel Stage, on the final day of the Worthy Farm blowout.
While The Raghu Dixit Project is not the first Indian band to perform at Glastonbury (both Pentagram and Shaa’ir + Func have played the festival before), the band is playing by far the biggest stage any Indian indie act has performed on at the festival. TRDP will share the stage on Sunday, June 26 with artists like The Streets, OK Go, The Joy Formidable and Robyn. Glastonbury is headlined this year (the headliners play the Pyramid stage) by U2, Coldplay and Beyonce.
Other notable names on the lineup include fusion singer-songwriter Prem Joshua, NH7 Weekender headliners Asian Dub Foundation, 2009 Soundpad tourees Mumford & Sons and Laura Marling, and about a thousand other artists. Check out the entirety of the lineup on the Glastonbury website.
The Raghu Dixit Project will also perform on the Croissant Neuf stage at the festival. More from TRDP as we hear it.
