Mumbai acoustic project Dischordian launched their debut album at the Blue Frog on Tuesday, April 5.
Dischordian is the project of Split frontman Garreth D’Mello. D’Mello has been performing in this avatar since 2008. The band released their debut album The Feni Farm Riot to a surprisingly packed Tuesday night audience at the Blue Frog.
The band performed a nearly two hour-long set comprised of material from the album and a few cuts that aren’t on the album as well. Powered by a contingent of hardcore fans, the quartet played the best Dischordian set we’ve seen to date, totally engulfing the Lower Parel venue with their own private party – a refreshing brand of Goa-tinged orchestral indie rock, the members of the band dressed in suit vests and fedoras, and free shots of feni passed around.
The gig featured guest appearances by Varoon Nair of The Mavyns and Sidd Coutto of the currently-on-hiatus Tough On Tobacco. The set closed with a drunken rendition of the popular ‘La Bamba’ parody ‘Mera Sabse Lamba’.
