The fourth edition of the quarterly Bass Camp festival has been announced, and will be hitting three cities next month – New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. The festival focuses on dubstep and drum ‘n bass music, bringing together significant Indian and international acts, and will feature UK DJ Nu:Tone (pictured), who is signed to Hospital Records.
We spoke with one of the organizers and part of Mumbai drum ‘n bass act Bay Beat Collective, Sohail Arora, who told us about the festival
Hospital Records is one of the biggest drum ‘n bass record labels in the world, and this is the first time an artist from that label is coming to India. As of now, this is a small-budget indoor festival, but it provides the opportunity for Indian and international DJ collectives to come together. The past few editions of the Bass Camp festival were held in five cities – Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai. It was held at Zenzi Mills in Mumbai for the first time in February 2010 and saw a crowd of about 300 people, and that number has grown gradually over the next few editions. We haven’t roped in any sponspors, this is purely a Krunk property – the response has been good and I plan to take it further. This October we’re looking to expand this to Kathmandu, and perhaps sometime in the future we may do an outdoor festival.
