Pentagram performed at Hard Rock Cafe, Pune on Wednesday, Mar 23 as part of the Bloodywood album launch tour.
Hard Rock Cafe, Pune, with it’s muffled acoustics wins the dubious distinction of being among the city’s most challenging venues, both for a band and it’s fans. Tough as it may be to sound good, it takes equal effort to look past all that fuzz, making Mumbai electro rockers Pentagram sound like No Age. Pentagram certainly didn’t seem to care though, as they fearlessly opened the second date on their five-city Bloodywood launch tour (check out pics and details of the tour starter in Mumbai) in their inimitable high energy manner.
Gathering a heap of tension by means of a steady percussion build, the band let loose ‘Tomorrow’s Decided’ on the sizable crowd, making up for the bad sound with sheer power. Brilliant as the first 15 minutes were, a good portion of the crowd steadily began growing impatient for the band to play few of their older, more popular tracks. With a 10-song set comprising entirely of cuts from Bloodywood (stream clips from the album), the energy began diminishing the closer we got to 11pm. The band was precise as always, but didn’t seem too happy with the crowd. With no encore and a noticeably unsatisfied Vishal Dadlani, it was evident things hadn’t gone as well as when the last time they played in Pune.
